Dragkampen - a 135-mile electric car challenge with horse transport to the Falsterbo Horse show

Umesläp launches the campaign Dragkampen - the electric car challenge to show that it is entirely possible to pull a horse transport with an electric car. The campaign consists partly of a 135-mile journey from Bygdsiljum in Västerbotten to Falsterbo in Skåne, and partly of an exciting competition where you can win free access to a B60 trailer for a whole year. On July 4, the company begins the journey with an electric car pulling a loaded horse trailer.

Umesläp, one of Sweden's leading manufacturers of horse trailers and horse transports, is now starting a campaign to address the doubts about using electric cars to pull heavy trailers, such as horse transports. The Dragkampen - electric car challenge campaign is a collaboration with Skellefteå Kraft and aims to prove the capacity of electric cars and promote sustainable transport solutions. Together with OKQ8, Skellefteå Kraft has built Sweden's largest network for public super-fast charging, where all electric car charging takes place with renewable power. This makes Skellefteå Kraft an important actor as a partner.

Exciting road trip with electric car and horse trailer from Bygdsiljum to Falsterbo Horse Show

On July 4, Umesläp begins a 135-mile road trip from Bygdsiljum in Västerbotten to Falsterbo in Scania. The journey is carried out with a Volvo EC 40 electric car pulling a B60 trailer, loaded with 750 kg, which corresponds to the weight of a real horse. There is also a deadline - the team must be in Falsterbo by July 6, when the Falsterbo Horse Show starts.

- We are well aware that there are challenges with making a long journey with an electric car and horse transport. It requires careful planning, both in terms of frequent charging and finding charging stations where we don't have to disconnect the horse transport. But we are convinced that it will work. We have a great collaboration with Skellefteå Kraft, which has made a big effort for more charging points and super-fast charging at many OKQ8 stations across the country, says Markus Lindgren, CEO at Umesläp.

During the trip, Umesläp will continuously update his social media with reports on how the trip is progressing, answer questions from engaged followers and address any challenges along the way.

- We understand that there is a difference between pulling a real horse and pulling static weight. But we will do our best to simulate real conditions and show that electric cars are fully capable of handling this type of load, continues Markus.

Competition - win free access to a B60 horse trailer for a whole year!

Linked to the campaign is also a competition where you can win free access to one B60 Trailer for a whole year! For more information about the competition visit www.umeslap.se/dragkampen.

We look forward to showing the world that electric cars are not just the future, they are already here and ready to take on the challenges we throw at them. Follow our journey and be inspired by the power of sustainable solutions.

Umesläp is in an expansive development phase. The market puts a lot of pressure on our products and we have therefore decided to meet this need. During 2020-2021, we are investing in new technology such as material selection, assembly technology, among other things. Everything for a more efficient, safer production line with a focus that makes the product even more circular with the help of material selection that, among other things, means that the product's low weight contributes to less climate impact, and that quality and the working environment are put in focus. We are therefore happy that the Swedish Agricultural Agency is on board and supporting us in our venture.
